M Is for My So-Called Life, Enough Said

I've been watching a lot of TV lately. So much so that I actually bought a subscription to Netflix. The cool thing is, in addition to getting DVD's mailed to you, you can watch select movies and television shows online instantly. I have a Wii, so I just stream them right to the TV.

Right now, I'm almost totally done watching My So-Called Life. When this show came out, I was the same age as Claire Danes's character, 15, even though I didn't watch it at the time. Wow, I wish I would have.

Everything about this show is amazing. The clothes. The actors. The writing. Really, the creator and head writer Winnie Holzman is my new idol. Did you know she also created the show Huge (which was cancelled, too, but which I'm about to go look up)? And she wrote the book (i.e. the script) for the musical version of Wicked. Uh-huh.

Seriously, if you are writing for teenagers and you have not seen this show, stop everything you are doing and rent it right now. The whole series is only 19 episodes because it was cancelled after its first season. I guess, at the time, the network didn't think there was a market for shows for teen girls. Crazy right? Considering all the books, movies, and shows now that are targeted solely towards teen girls.

Here's a little scene from one of the episodes...

Any other Angela Chase fans out there?
