I finished listening to Pride and Prejudice on CD in the car last night. Mr. and Mrs. Darcy... swoon.
Since I needed something else to entertain me on the ride to and from work, I stopped at the library and checked out four new audiobooks. Fledgling by Octavia Butler (because I've never read anything by her, but have always meant to), The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski (because it's supposed to be very good), Inkheart by Cornelia Funke (because I like young adult fantasy), and Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery (because I've never read it. For shame!).
I started Anne (spelled with an "e") this morning and I'm loving her. I'm about four chapters in and I can't believe I never read this book as a little girl. The characters are so well done and Anne is absolutely perfect. I don't even mind the weird adoption/orphan story line. Probably because the book is set in 1908 in Canada the author can get away with portraying adoption practices that are pretty much cruel and unethical (poor, Anne! Not wanted just because she isn't a boy!).
In paper reading, I'm still mainly working on Slaughterhouse Five (a re-read) and Await Your Reply (which has started out very promising).
Lots of reading and writing to do this weekend!
