- In the original version, Mick Jagger uses foul language.
- The original location for the Altamont concert was supposed to be Golden Gate Park, but the city refused a permit when they heard the Stones as the main act. They feared large crowds. But then they decided to try Sears Point in Sonoma, but after a dispute with the track owners, the equipment and band moved to Altamont
- The Stones had gotten the idea of using the Hell's Angels as security when they did their 1969 Hyde Park concert in London by using London's chapter of the Hells Angels, but the ones in London were more pacifist than their American counterparts.

Across the Universe
- When Jude sees inspiration to paint by seeing the bowl of strawberries, it inspires him to paint Jackson Pollock style, and it makes a reference to Stuart Sutcliffe, who was the early bassist for the Beatles who painted in a Jackson Pollock style
- The rooftop concert at the end where everyone is singing All You Need is Love is a reference to the Beatles live concert on the roof of Apple Records in London when they sang Let It Be
- During the underwater scene, Jude and Lucy are completely naked, almost paying a tribute to John Lennon and Yoko Ono's image on the front of Rolling Stone Magazine on Jan. 22, 1981
