Yes, Rachel Berry Is My Personal Hero

Can I just say how much I love Glee? Of course I can. This is my blog after all, so here it goes: I. Love. Glee.

I've jumped on the bandwagon a little late. I was assigned to a project at work that involves Glee (yes, my job rocks. I get to watch sitcoms as part of it) and I saw the first few episodes on DVD and fell in love. Tonight is the season premiere and I am totally spending the day Gleeking out. I'm listening to songs from the cast album on YouTube right now.

But if I had to name all the things I love about the show (the singing, the dancing, the adorable high school kids and their romantic intrigues), I'd have to say my favorite is Rachel.

Yes, annoying diva Rachel Berry is my favorite Glee character. I totally get her obnoxious, unpopular girl persona because I myself was pretty obnoxious and unpopular (I wasn't in glee club, but I did play the flute in marching band). She's trying her best to fit in, but has no idea how to (hello, painful memories of high school!).

But for all her social ineptitude, Rachel rocks. She may be at the bottom of the high school hierarchy, but the girl can sing circles around anyone at William McKinley. She's also super ambitious and she believes whole-heartedly in her ability to succeed no matter what anyone thinks of her.

And she has Finn, the most adorable boyfriend in the world (next to my fab husband, of course).

I could use a little more Rachel in my life. I wish I had even a quarter of her drive. I'd probably be a writing machine and have an empire built out of books by now. I could also use some help knowing how to better move past the occasional slushy in the face (i.e. rejection).

Maybe, all it takes is just remembering to put a gold star next to my name?!

How about everyone else? Any Gleeks out there? Are you psyched for the new season?
